2510. Can I Acquire a Language Yet?

According to great Krashen and Spanish scholar Susana Pastor learning a language doesn’t lead to acquisition.

They are different: learning and acquiring.

Learning takes you to plan learning and gives you varied and useful points for communication, but it tends to be more theoretical than practical, whilst acquisition leads you to a communicative competence.

Adults in general – not infants = people who cannot speak yet – CAN also acquire English or another language, albeit it’s harder and tough as old as the learner is. But DO NOT lose hope. / Photo from: red-man-speaking www clumbiawestcollege edu
