1798. Am I Too Old to Learn a Language?



It isn’t true that adults and old people cannot learn and acquire English or any language. 

This is my experience. 

Thank God I have gotten that adults in this academic year would start to speak English, and for some minutes long. 

Besides adults can plan and program their learning and acquisition. And they are more perseverant than youngsters, roughly speaking. 

So it must stay clear that adults, even old people can learn and acquire a language. Also it’s true that the older the learner is the more difficult it will be to learn and acquire the language. / Photo from: climbing a mountain. www chamex com

NB.- I just realized the attached picture might someway mean something pejorative about those gentlemen. Nothing this sort I meant. Furthermore, i do not know them. Just i liked the photograph, an interesting one if you have a peek at it. 3711. No pain, no gain

  What does an English language teacher wish, really wish? That his or her students would learn English! One point for you, for you got it!  Like a couple of days ago I wrote down some notes, in Spanish, whose translation would be, “In order for his students to actually learn English they need to read a lot, and write a lot, and speak a lot.” And that’s it. 3678. What to Do to Have Nice Discussions in Class

  I’m an English language teacher. And I consider that my dear students would speak in that language is the main goal, don’t you think so?  They often say sentences in class, if they are at a low level of mastering English. My higher-level ones intervene for longer and we hold nice discussions in class. Definitely I have to have them all of my students would contribute to the class for longer than mere sentences. I’m following on TV the terrible immigration from Syria and Irak to Europe.  It’s much of a tragedy.  And I can see how young people above all are breaking new ground at speaking in English to the TV reporters.
