1901. The goal of classes is communication among people



In short courses or vacation ones I think that speaking is the language skill that should be worked out the most. 

However this doesn’t mean that other skills would not be practiced. Usually a class is a span of time where the four skills are practiced: listening, speaking, reading and writing. 

Activities and book exercises allow various skills to be used. It is rare that a single language skill be practiced. 

A class too is a period where naturalistically those skills are practiced – there is speaking and so listening too, and for example the student has to write down notes whilst listening or speaking.

And I consider that my dear students would speak in that language is the main goal, don’t you think so?  They often say sentences in class, if they are at a low level of mastering English. Teacher B said to teacher A, “Bullying. In a school of the south of Spain where I worked for some unforgettable years we used to cut off any nuance among the students, when a few of them for example started on and teased one specific kid.  We on one side called the victim kid to talk with him and also called his parents – his tutor did this latter thing. The idea was to have the kid relax and retrieve information from him about the bullying actions he had suffered.  On the other side we summoned the suspected authors of the bullying, also to talk with them. 1485. More about necessary homework

At home the student ought to count on an atmosphere that would help him study.  Once more it’s the parents and elder siblings the ones who can provide this ambience at home.  There can be little siblings running around and all that, but the student should have a quiet room to carry out his homework, maybe with one of his brothers in the room too.  Homework and reading.  Reading can aid a lot to the kid to mature. Think of classics.  Maybe not as much as a student that attended a camp of English last summer. I was helping out with further conversations in English with each kid.
