1907. About the exams of English

Two years ago a student of mine wished to take one of Cambridge examinations of English. Namely he wanted to take First Certificate.

However I suggested to him to take PET exam first, because his level was rather low for First.

Whenever you want to take an examination of English or any other language, in my opinion you ought to take the exam whose level of difficulty and communicative competences you already master.

Among other reasons is that for example for the Speaking part you must be fluent enough; also because the language should be like a second nature you have; and as well because that language must have been internalized and embraced by you. / Photo from: Graduation in Cambridge University. www thesundaytimes co uk
