1394. Who are the protagonists in the parade?



Teacher A said to teacher B, “Traditionally the teacher in the school and the classroom was the protagonist or main character, and the students confined their actions to listen to the teacher’s wisdom, isn’t so? 

Now I think, ok, the teacher talks and his students listen but also all the class (teacher plus students) is more similar to a work group where the teacher is a facilitator, main engine of force, helper of the students, who embark in the process of learning English or another language. 

The students need this facilitator.

We have freedom, tentatively, and by principle. 3708. When Was the Last Time Our Students Read a Full Book?

  Today I would like to point out a couple of points that may help you out, mainly if you are a teacher, like I am.  You know, a lot has been said about the student’s motivation in class, and that’s fine, for our lessons don’t need to bore our dear students and a whole herd of cows alike.  However, if for example a kid in class achieves to solve a math problem, or to write an essay in English (say, his target language), about a given topic, well, he will get perfectly content. There may be nothing better than the student would strive to do things fine, and learn a lot of things from his teacher.  Effort and struggling may also be paramount in class, and alike at home with their homework.   I wrote a few days ago the following.  One more year has begun. And today I’m going to let you know about something I lately do when lesson planning, in case it may help you out.  I teach English to adults. And when I start to plan a new lesson, I wonder, Okay, what should I do to really help my students learn that language? Because each and every class should be one step forward in their learning and acquiring English.  Secondly I also could wonder, Okay, what can I do next class to make my students become autonomous learners? From my paper on H. D. Brown.  Children can teach you a lesson on how to go about learning a foreign language. They tend to move directly into a foreign language. They don’t worry about what the native language equivalents are. They don’t mentally translate things as they’re listening or speaking. Your best bet would be to try being a little more childlike .
