There’s a peril and danger for teachers of languages: to talk too much, either in the mother language or in English, the target language. 

Encourage your students by having them speaking in English, and gently praise their contributions.

And today I’m going to let you know about something I lately do when lesson planning, in case it may help you out.  I teach English to adults.
