1520. How to assess their progress in English



At the beginning of the academic year I explain the system of assessment to my dear students. 60% of the grade of the subject of English is for tests: they assess grammar, use, listening…, and 40% for everyday grades: each and every day is important – you learn and acquire a language by means of daily working.

  I wrote a few days ago the following.  One more year has begun. And today I’m going to let you know about something I lately do when lesson planning, in case it may help you out.  I teach English to adults. They don’t worry about what the native language equivalents are. They don’t mentally translate things as they’re listening or speaking. Your best bet would be to try being a little more childlike .
