Linguistic aural or oral competence. 

It happens when the learner of a language, like English, tries to communicate with somebody else. 

When he doesn’t know a word he explains the meaning, or gives synonyms, or asks for the other’s help. They’re learning and performing strategies. Sometimes they’re verbal, other times non-verbal though. Paraphrasing, gestures… also pertain in here. / Photo from: germanoltwelers co
