2352. Connecting people



What methodology of teaching and learning English do I hold? 

Communicative, definitely. 

I like to teach people to communicate with other people. 

So not much translation, no mere learning grammar patterns. 

This morning each of my adult learners made a summary of a text I had previously handed out to them. And I told them they were uttering and saying messages in English, though with errors and mistakes we will polish next academic year. The topic is that one about a rugby team whose plane crashes against Los Andes, in the 70’s, and some of them survive.

We have freedom, tentatively, and by principle. First premise.  However if I skip any compromise, I can't use my freedom.  If I compromise with someone about something I must fulfill it, right?  Albeit some people think that getting married for example doesn't entail to live with your spouse for the rest of your life, I'd say that compromise is for all the lifetime of one of the spouses however.   I wrote a few days ago the following.  One more year has begun. And today I’m going to let you know about something I lately do when lesson planning, in case it may help you out.  I teach English to adults. And when I start to plan a new lesson, I wonder, Okay, what should I do to really help my students learn that language? They don’t worry about what the native language equivalents are. They don’t mentally translate things as they’re listening or speaking. Your best bet would be to try being a little more childlike .
